Playing games with the Rage 3DPlaying bundled gamesIf your Rage 3D came with bundled game software, please read the Game Demo Information under Start/Programs/ThrustMaster/Rage 3D for information on setting up and running the games.
Using the Rage 3D with Windows 95 GamesAs a DirectInput device under Windows 95, the Rage 3D is designed to act as a 2-axis, 10-button control. The buttons actually used in a game depends on what buttons are supported by the game software itself. The supplied ThrustMapper software can be used to extend the range of game actions assigned to your Rage 3D.
Using the Rage 3D with games not designed for Windows 95 DirectInputThe Rage 3D works best with games designed for Windows 95. If a game does not support DirectInput, it will act like a 2-axis, 4-button game controller. The range of game actions can be extended with game scripts, which can produced with the supplied ThrustMapper software.
What about DOS games? The Rage 3D can be used with DOS games as long as they are run in a DOS window under Windows 95. Rage 3D will not work under Windows 95's DOS mode or in native MS DOS (MS DOS 6 or earlier). The Rage 3D acts as a 2-axis, 4-button control for DOS games. Buttons A, B, the left triggers and the right triggers act as buttons 1 - 4 (respectively) in games. Buttons C, X, Y and Z act as "autofire" versions of these first four buttons.
Multiple Rage 3D game pads: If multiple Rage 3D game pads are connected, only the first one in the chain is "seen" under DOS. How do I use script files?Script files for select popular games were loaded into your computer when the ThrustMaster software was installed. You set up the Rage 3D to use a script file by running the ThrustMapper (available under the Start menu under Programs/ThrustMaster). If you can't find a script file for your game, you can create one with the ThrustMapper.
Go to the ThrustMapper manual.
